The Online Common Entrance Test (CET) is only for Candidates seeking admission to the DNS Programme conducted by Affiliated Institutes of IMU and who are sponsored by Ship Owning or Ship Management Companies.

Educational Qualifications and Medical Standards required for admission to DNS Programme: Eligibility / Qualification for admission to DNS Course as below:

Qualification:

(a) Pass in (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60%. OR B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the year, with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year. OR B.E/ B.Tech. Degree from I.I.T. or from a college recognized by AICTE with an average of not less than 50% of marks in the final year. AND

(b) The candidates should have obtained 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th Std. or in the Degree course conducted by recognized Board or any University. Relaxation: 5% Relaxation in eligibility marks to SC/ST candidates. No relaxation in English language marks. B.

Date of Birth

(a) Male Candidates belonging to General (GEN) and Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) categories, the date of birth should fall between 02-02-1992 and 02-02-2000.

(b) Female Candidates of General (GEN) and Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) categories the date of birth should fall between 02-02- 1990 and 02-02-2000.

(c) Male and Female candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), the date of birth should fall between 02-02- 1987 and 02-02-2000.

Physical Fitness

Candidates for admission to DNS course are required to produce certificate for medical fitness by authorities authorized by Director General of Shipping. Candidates with Disability (DA) are not eligible for admission to marine courses.

The candidate must be physically fit and should meet the medical requirements as specified by DGS guidelines.

Candidates must possess good binocular vision (Fusion faculty and full field of vision in both eyes). Movement of the eyeballs must be full in all directions and the pupils should react normally to light and accommodation. Nautical Department (Deck Department) includes GP Crew:

(a) Distance vision (unaided 1.0 *(6/6) in better eye and 0.67*(6/9) in other eye;
(b) Normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara test chart.

Candidates shall upload the following documents at the time of Online Application Form:

a) Scanned copy of the passport size photograph.
b) Scanned copy of the signature of the candidate.
c) Scanned copy of 10th Standard Certificate or equivalent in support of Date of Birth.
d) Scanned copy of the Educational Certificate which qualifies the candidate for this Programme.-
12th Std or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English OR B.Sc (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the year) OR B.E/ B.Tech. Degree from I.I.T. or from a college recognized by AICTE.
e) Scanned copy of the Community Certificate.

Registration Fee payable is Rs. 700/- for candidates from SC/ST category and Rs.1,000/- for all others. It is non-refundable.

Registration Fee shall be paid only online.

The Online CET will consist of 200 multiple choice questions.

The multiple choice questions will be set from the following topics: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, General Knowledge and Aptitude at Plus 2 level (CBSE, ISE and State Boards).

The candidates may go through the IMU CET Model Question Paper and familiarize themselves with the types and level of difficulty of the questions that are likely to be asked in the Online CET. IMU reserves the right to change the distribution, types, level of difficulty, etc. of the questions asked from that shown in the Model Question Paper. Please visit IMU website for further details.

There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.

Note: For Candidates native to Andaman & Nicobar Islands or domiciled there for at least five years, a separate CET for UG programmes only will be conducted by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration on behalf of IMU. Candidates desirous of joining MBA/ M.Tech/ M.Sc programmes must apply online for IMU’s CETs.

The Applicants can give 3 preferences for the cities where they wish to take the CET while registering online. While every effort will be made to accommodate an Applicant within his 3 preferred cities, the IMU reserves the right to divert Applicants to the nearest cities if sufficient number of candidates are not forthcoming in certain cities and also if there are too many candidates for a particular city. If there is a large number of Applicants for certain cities, the IMU/Service Provider may arrange multiple Test Venues in such cities.

The name and address of the Test Venue will be indicated on the Hall Ticket/Admit Card and Applicants are requested to be present at the Test Venue at least 30 minutes before the time of commencement of the CETs.
